Happy 4th of July, 2013

Dear Flakes,

Here we are again at the 4th of July. I’d just like to take a moment to thank you all for coming to the table, reading, commenting, and discussing our ideas with us at Eat Your Serial. The idea of discourse, discussion, and expression are at the heart of American liberties and to be able to do so freely, and to have robust conversations is our ultimate goal in sharing our ideas with you. Thank you for your part in our experiment of First Amendment execution, but beware…you’ve only emboldened us to go bigger, and “go west” (at least as far west as one can go on the internet. Expect fireworks from us in the near future to rival the Macy’s show that some of you will certainly be witnessing tonight through various means. The execution of our rights is our honor and duty, and any open discourse we can have in large groups helps us all to grown and understand the multifaceted prism of ourselves. Our growth as a company, as well as your support is invaluable whether you agree with our writers or disagree–the more you come and read, and comment, and share the better off we all are. In this age of deep political divides, hard party lines, and victory-without-compromise mindsets in our American government and in national conversations it is important that we remember that only through interaction, and only with open minds can we truly learn from each other and move forward in a mutually beneficially and decidedly positive direction. At Eat Your Serial, whether we disagree about Man of Steel or Affirmative Action, we’re glad to openly share our perspectives and offer them to you. It is a particular point of pride and accomplishment whenever we get a comment, like, follow, or share in social media or on our posts because we know that you are interacting with our thoughts and either endorsing, challenging, or engaging their content. But beware, Dearest Flakes, as your interaction with us only emboldens us to think bigger, go harder, and share more–and have no fear that is exactly what we intend to do. As we continue to build our American Dream at Eat Your Serial, have no fear, we intend to explode with new ideas, thoughts, projects, and initiatives. Big things are on the horizon and we hope that you will forge our new frontiers with us.

While you are gathering with your friends and loved ones on this day, please know that our thoughts are with you and we are wishing you a happy and safe celebration. For our part, we will be reflecting on everything we have and how much more we have to give to all the important and not so important conversations in the world.

We’d also like to take a moment to remember those who gave their all so that we can execute our important freedoms–your sacrifice has added to your immortality, as you are inextricably linked to the execution of our most basic and fundamentally important rights.

Happy 4th of July, and God Bless America

The Eat Your Serial App is Here!

Hey Flakes,

As a way to get your Serials and Toast delivered to you in an even easier fashion than coming straight to the source, we’ve tried to develop a way to bring the source to you. Enter the Eat Your Serial App powered by Conduit Mobile. This is our first app, so we expect that its going to be COMPLETELY AWESOME. Awesome in the sense that Eat Your Serial will now be at your fingertips and easily accessible on your mobile device.

Since its a Conduit Mobile App, it is technically a “browser hijacking app”, which is much scarier than it sounds. Essentially its a customized link, with forced buttons that you can send to your homescreen to easily and quickly access all our content. From there it acts just like any other app, except you don’t have to download it…it takes up practically no drive space, because it is a part of your browser. But there’s more. Best part? It’s totally free. TOTALLY FREE. So if you love our content, and can’t wait to get your eyes all over it every day, this app is going to help you get it in your eyes and digested by your mind at breakneck speeds.

As always, we are open to any suggestions you may have to help this develop into a more serviceable and useful tool to get content INTO YOUR BRAIN THROUGH YOUR EYE SOCKETS (sorry, that was dramatic) so please feel free to share your thoughts with us either through Facebook, Twitter, e-mail or comments.

To get all set up just go to this address: http://www.EatYourSerial.conduitapps.com

Eat Your Serial

Eat Your CEO- April 2013

Dear Flakes,

As we mark the second anniversary of the Eat Your Serial website and the fourth anniversary of Eat Your Serial Inc., I’d like to take a moment to thank my co-founders, partners, staff, and freelancers in this endeavor for their dedication, hard work, love, patience, creativity, and most of all friendship in making this project…this company…a most worthwhile part of my life. I must also thank my predecessors at the helm of the company both Former President Shawn Abraham and Former CEO and current Editor Emeritus David Missal as the foundational leadership that they have left for me to build on is the basis of greatness. I certainly hope that Eat Your Serial has become a part of yours, Dear Flakes, and I must thank you most of all–without you there would be no reason to continue writing, posting, publishing, and snarking. Thanks for letting us inform and entertain you.

With that said, I am glad to announce that I have bloodily wrestled Mr. Missal and Mr. Abraham in a deadly Hell-in-the-Cell-Loser-Moves-to-Australia-Forever match. Seriously though, as I take the role of CEO and Editor-in-Chief of Eat Your Serial I feel that I have been entrusted with a great brand of writing and entertainment. Expect to see great things and new things coming soon and coming quickly–from new media to new platforms to Eat Your Serial (and hopefully buy your serial). Those of you who received our newest newsletter–Box Tops–in your e-mail today know that we are not only selling e-books on Smashwords.com, but also are issuing great coupon deals on our amazing library of books for those of you who choose to subscribe. Smashwords is not the only venue that is new to us…expect to see the Eat Your Serial library popping up on the Barnes and Noble online store, iBooks, and several other venues–you can even request that your local library purchase a digital copy of one of our books and take it out from there. We’re delivering our stories to you from every possible angle. (Did I mention we have some great video content in the works already? Uh oh…cat’s out of the bag now…we better deliver on that).

That said, we are not limiting ourselves to just words anymore. Prose is a wonderfully versatile medium of expression and most of us happen to be writers and editors first and foremost–but baby, we’re looking to get all kinds of serial down your eye sockets and earholes. Consider this the clarion call for poets, film and movie makers, theater groups, photographers, musical acts, artists, and graphic novelists/comic book creators…all creative people–Eat Your Serial wants you too. If you have a story to tell, or a message to deliver…we want to help you get it to your audience. We are expanding our scope. If you have a podcast, pitch it to us. If you have a column, pitch it to us. You wrote and filmed a play, pitch it to us. You’ve got a comic book idea, pitch it to usWe’re ready to help you spread your art and your message. Drop us a line at info@eatyourserial.com or submit via our website, http://www.eatyourserial.com .

But don’t let that fool you–we are just as committed to serialized novels, short stories, and columns across a wide area of genres as ever. We are currently looking to expand our catalog of Feature Content–in fact April, May, and June will see an influx of new content and talent to expand and create sections in Video Games, Fashion, and Politics…and really much more. If there’s something we’re missing drop us a line…hit us up on Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, (or the other social networks we’ll soon be moving into) or right here at homebase: The Eat Your Serial website and tell us what we need to do to keep you eating a quality meal of entertainment.

We’ve got a great team that we are looking to grow, and a great library and catalogue that we want to diversify. So while we look at our past and see how far we’ve come…from an unwieldy e-mail thread pleading its participants to click “Reply All” to a publishing house with a growing list of really wonderful, quality books on a number of platforms…I’d rather look at all the places we dream to go to. So come along and Eat Your Serial with us. I promise it’ll never be boring and will always be tasty, quality entertainment.

Eat it.

A Fare-thee-well From David Missal

My dear People,

My dear Poetses and Writers, and my dear Illustrators and Editors, and Columnists, and Features, and Photographers, and Marketers, and Financiers…

Also my good Cofounders with whom I helped start this company. Today is my fourth anniversary (more or less) with Eat Your Serial! ‘Hurray! Hurray! Many Happy Returns!’

I hope you are have all enjoyed yourselves as much as I have. I shall not keep you long, I have called you all together for a Purpose…

Indeed, for Three Purposes! First of all, to tell you that I am immensely fond of you all, and that four years is too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable people.

I don’t know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve…

Secondly, to celebrate my anniversary- I should say: OUR anniversary. For it is, of course, also the anniversary of company as a whole (more or less), Eat Your Serial, Inc.

Thirdly and finally, I wish to make an ANNOUNCEMENT. I regret to announce that — though, as I said, four years is far too short a time to spend among you — this is the END. I am going. I am leaving NOW. GOOD-BYE!

-David Missal

Technical Difficulties

It’s The Boss here (no, not Bruce Springsteen, but how rad would that be):

We’re having a few technical difficulties at the moment (as you’ve probably noticed from the errors at the top of the screen), and for a few days our wonderful features we

re disappearing into the dreaded 404 maelstrom of the internet. But the good news is we’re on top of it now, have all our wonderful posts back, and will even be back to normal soon.

Please stick with us during these turbulent times! It’s always a little bumpy after takeoff, and with all the upgrades we’ve been making to things around here, we were bound to run into a few snafus. But the results will be a better site, even more awesome content to read, and a snazzy new store that will – at long last! – include links for all our Apple users to buy their favorite books and try out a few new ones.

Thanks for your patience,

The Grand Poobah
